Close In formed in late 2020 and have solidified their four-piece line up this year. They have practised and refined their first songs together - imbuing their live' iterations with a dark, crackling post-punk energy - in the days and weeks where lockdown restrictions have been briefly lifted. As a band, they refuse to be defined by the circumstances under which they formed, and seek to push the limits of genre, drawing from a broad and diverse range of influences to conjure the songs on Everything I Remember'. 'Everything I Remember' is not a pandemic record, though it would be remiss to overlook the fact that it is a collection of songs written and recorded during and between Melbourne's lockdowns. The world's shared feelings of isolation, despair and apocalyptic dread have no doubt seeped their way into the DNA of these songs. But for all the darkness in them, there is hope to be found in the sense of longing in these songs; 'Everything I Remember' reflects a dogged, resolute belief in the power of connection.
